Sacrament Radio
Reminisce
2nd May 2004

Last year when I moved house, I stumbled across a huge box of old demo tapes that used to get regular airplay on Sacrament Radio between the years 1993 and 1997. Since then, with the progression of the CD industry, all demos are sent to me in CDR format.
Discovering the box, and looking through the tapes individually, left me reminiscing how the "music scene" was back then. It is this reminiscing that has inspired me to spend many long days in the studio dumping all the demo tapes on to computer. The aim is to "clean" them up a touch and transfer them to CD. This is not because I prefer to use CDs, it's because the tapes are of such a significant, sentimental value to me, and I want to keep them as they are, with minimal deterioration.
Once all the tapes are tidied up and transferred to many CDs, I will be giving them airplay on Sacrament Radio and Transmission. For some of you, this will be a positive experience, reminiscing the "old bands" and relearning old songs. For others, it will be an introduction to bands that you otherwise would never have heard!
Naturally the quality won't be of high standard, but the rawness is what makes the songs so special. Most of the bands are Australian, but there are quite a few demo's from all over the world, including a compilation of Japanese Gothic bands - which is quite a spin out!
There are too many to list, but just some of the artists I've already "dumped" onto the computer include:
THE HANGED MAN, LAMINGTON DRIVE, SUB LUCIS ORTUM, THE BEST OF VLODIVOSTOCK, JOSHUA BOURKE, FEAR OF DOLLS, GETHESMANE, BLOOD SANCTION, LOVELORN, X-WHY, SAIN, JUNKIE JESUS AND THE FATAL CHARMERS, TROLL, LAMENT - I CRY, and PUPPETTE.
Aaaahh . . . . . . . . . those were the days!
