Good bye and Thank you! :)
Saturday, 29th March 2008
Thank you to everyone who came to last weekends Electric Ballroom. It's such an honour to know that people traveled from far away places such as Wollongong, Newcastle, Canberra, Melbourne and Brisbane, just for my last gig!! It literally took my breath away. *hugs*
Big Thanks also go out to all the lovely souls that have sent such kind words, since I announced the ending of Sacrament Radio. Naturally, it's far too time consuming to type all the letters and emails here, but I would like to share a couple of notes....
"A truly sad but understandable decision. You have given young musicians a chance to believe they add up in an industry that has tunnel vision. You will be sorely missed and always loved". Spectre (Puppetsphere).
"Thank you and THANK YOU for being you, your heart, spirit, support for The Last Dance and our music....
Leigh you are simply a gift and loved lots by myself and us. I wish you well, so much. HUGS". Rick (The Last Dance).
"I have always appreciated your existence on the airwaves and in the clubs. I particularly appreciate that in 20-odd years of making music, you are the only person who ever gave me radio airplay. More than that, the international listenership of your show rewarded me with fanmail from far away places like Canada and Sweden. Thank you, and good luck for the future". Kay (Antarctica Starts Here).
"Congratulations on 15 years of amazing radio. It's a huge understatement to say your show, one of 2rrr's most successful, will be missed". Dan Archer (former 2RRR presenter).
"Nice work Leigh. Thanks for the great work you've done and good luck in the future". Stu (Zombie Ghost Train).
"It's been awesomely great to have seen such a passionate girl do something she obviously loves. I'm going to miss tuning in on Wednesday nights and hearing Leigh's voice over the air". Phil (2SER/FBI/RRR).
"The goth-and-related community will not be the same without your involvement!! You have been a true pillar for so long now, it won't be the same without you at all. Ostia would be nothing without you! We will miss you..." Amps (Ostia)
"Sad to see you go. COTP wishes to thank you dearly for all the support you have offered. Hope the new challenges are just as colourful". Ellis (Crimes of the Primary).
"Guess I'll be one of many expressing shock at this. Thank you for being an inspiration, a role model and feature of 2RRR. You were determined, put energy into your show, did way more in the way of supporting and helping 2RRR than a lot of folk (eg: your Eternal Chapters CD and generally being concerned about the welfare of 2RRR). I also very much appreciate all the time you've taken over the years in creating Transmission programs and ensuring that Wednesday nights are filled with sound, and not dead air. Wednesdays just won't be the same!!! I'm very interested to see if 2RRR moves to retain the listener base you've established. I hope things are well with you and whatever you embark upon brings you happiness". Helen (2RRR)
Words cannot describe how I feel right now, but again....
THANK YOU! :D
Electric Ballroom presents Sacrament Radio's farewell!
Wednesday, 12th March 2008
Time to say goodbye...
Wednesday, 5th March 2008
Hey guys,
After 15 years of volunteering at Sydney's community radio station 2RRR, it's time to move on.
Since the very first Sacrament Radio aired on Wednesday 10 March 1993, I've met many creative souls, run various nightclubs and band nights, DJ'ed in many Australian cities, toured with various bands, broadcast the show worldwide via many stations, put together fundraising events, released a double compilation CD, introduced children to radio, was vice chair of 2RRR, met my closest and dearest friends, and oh so much more!!
Sacrament Radio will broadcast live for the very last time on Wednesday 26 March 2008 between 9pm and Midnight on 2RRR 88.5 FM. And I will have my last "DJ Leigh" moment at the upcoming Electric Ballroom on Saturday 22 March. I sincerely hope to see you there!
There are far too many people to mention when it comes to those that have helped Sacrament Radio over the years; but I would like to Thank Richard Bennett for all of the web site creating, hosting, broadcasting, and ad making etc.
Thanks also goes to community radio station 2RRR for renting this little freak air time for so long. There is no other station like 2RRR, for all of it's faults, (and believe me there are many), the various offers I received from many other stations to move could never compete with 2RRR giving me complete free reign to both play and say what I wanted, not what I was told too.
But, the biggest THANKS of all go out to all the listeners. The multitude of correspondence has been incredible, to say the very least.
When it comes to community radio, I feel I will always be involved in some small capacity, but for now my life sees a new direction, and Sacrament Radio has been an awesome experience.
Thanks for the memories,
Leigh

Tonight's show will be live and will feature new music from artists such as: Laura, The Snakes of Eden, Phanatos and others, as well as requsts from the past couple of months. Unfortunately there won't be time for phone in requests, but hopefully that will occur next week! Naturally this web site needs LOTS of updating, but as that requires a buckload of time, it will happen slowly - but surely! Thanks for your patience and keep tuning in to Sacrament Radio each Wednesday night between 9 and 11pm on Sydney's Community Radio Station 2RRR 88.5 FM. Peace, x

Apologies for no radio show and no news or updates for a while. Things shall (hopefully) be back to normal.
While on the subject of news . . . Vortex is happening tonight at BJs in Bondi Junction from 10pm, and I will be DJing on the darkfloor. My set starts at 1am. Jay from Underscore will also be DJing on the hardfloor, and his set starts at 11:30pm and should not be missed! See you there :)

Not goth but . . .
Sunday, 6th June 2004
A big "well done" to my soccer team today. We played really well, even though we lost 3 - 1. I honestly believe we were the better team! :)
I decided to take up soccer earlier this year to get fit. It's not exactly working, but I'm having fun! I'm playing in the second lowest division, and we're at the bottom of the table. We draw most of our games, but have now lost three. Last week we won our first game, but we didn't deserve too! (The other team only had seven players!)
I'm having fun working out the mental tactics of soccer, whilst suffering physically! (You'd think years of drinking and dancing would help, but no! ;)
Anyway, bottom line is exercising can be fun, and let's hope my fitness improves very soon!
Well done to my team mates. :)

Stuff
Thursday, 6th May 2004
Hey guys,
Sorry I missed the show last night . . . I was in desperate need of sleep, after a full-on couple of weeks at work, as well as still trying to regain my energy levels from last weeks tummy bug! :-/ I do hope you enjoyed the prerecord though. Again the brand new Transmission was missed, but don't worry because it *will* be given airplay next week! (Fingers crossed)!
Just a reminder that there's a new rambling up on the "ramblings" page, so feel free to check it out; And also don't forget Gallery Serpentine are now stocking the 'Eternal Chapters' compilation, so make sure you go buy yourself or your friends a copy from Gallery Serpentine ASAP!
Some cool news . . . there's a groovy new hair salon on Crown Street in Surry Hills called "Altering Images", which is open from Tuesdays to Saturdays, and they do the most rockin' hair, so if your hair needs help, you know where to go! :)
And finally, as usual I will update this "News" page tomorrow, with many gigs that are happening this weekend and in the near future!
Cheers :)
Gallery Serpentine

Apologies for not presenting Sacrament Radio live last night, therefore not putting the brand new Transmission to air, as well as not updating this web site in the last couple of days. I have been really ill with a bacterial infection (tummy bug) and am still getting over the pain! Hopefully next week's Sacrament Radio will be live, (a general 'Request week' so send in your requests now); next week's Transmission will be new (as promised), and I'll update the 'News' page with upcoming gigs tomorrow, as well as the "This week" and "Transmission" pages later today!
Supports
Monday, 26th April 2004
Just found out that the Red Sun Band are supporting Grandaddy at the Sydney show (Metro 7th May) and Faker are supports for Grandaddy's Melbourne show. Two great Indie pop reasons to see Grandaddy if you live in Sydney or Melbourne! :-)

* UPDATE * UPDATE * UPDATE * UPDATE *
Tuesday, 13th April 2004
World Inc's final ever show has been pushed back to Sunday 25th April (Anzac Long Weekend). Yes that's right, this means that there are two gigs on the one night! But don't despair, as I have been assured that both main bands are onstage at separate times, and seeing as both venues are in walking distance of each other, we'll all be able to walk to the later gig together! So, the details are: World Inc's final ever show is on Sunday 25th April at the Hopetoun Hotel. World Inc. are onstage at approx 8:30pm and they will play until 9:30pm, as pubs shut early on Anzac Day! Then at 10pm (when the Hoey shuts), we can all walk two blocks down to the Gaelic Club, to see Covenant onstage at 10:30pm (approx). So make sure you've bought your Covenant tickets by the end of this week, as they are selling fast, and then make sure you're at the Hopetoun Hotel early on Sunday week, especially as the support bands (Joshua and True Love Chaos) are not to be missed! What a night. I can't wait!! :-)

Tonight's show . . .
Wednesday, 10th March 2004
I had such an awesome time at the recent Mark Gardener live solo show at the Annandale Hotel, that I'm going along to see him again at the Gaelic Club tonight. This means that unfortunately I won't be able to present Sacrament Radio live, but I will put on an appropriate Sacrament Radio prerecord. Apologies that I won't be presenting tonight's show live, but I don't think that Mark Gardener is likely to visit our shores again, so I don't want to miss his brilliant performance! Sacrament Radio will return live to air on Wednesday 17th March from 10pm, with a general 'Request week'; and the following week (Wednesday 24th March) will be 'Sacrament Radio's 11th Birthday' (delayed I know!), so start sending in your eleventh birthday requests now, to the contact details listed on the "Main page". Transmission will follow from Midnight, with the majority of the show featuring Australian music. (Good luck to Mark Webber racing in the Jaguar!)

The Captive
Sunday, 15th February 2004
Calling all spooky musicians! The Captive is being assembled by Christian Catchpole, here in Sydney. It will be a pocket sized band with a big, ethereal sound. Imagine a swampy band like The Wreckery or The Cure but with a heart and soul of Dead Can Dance. Imagine broadening the electronic frontiers of 50s Sci-Fi and 80's Pop; But imagine this with a no-bull punk etiquette. Imagine a neo-gothic mix of Lo-Fi, fetish, vacuum tubes and misty swamps. Max Headroom meets marquis. If you are a percussionist, bass player, or keyboard player and if this sounds like your cup of murky tea, visit: thecaptive.com .

Strike Three!
Wednesday, 11th February 2004
For the third time in the last four Wednesdays, 2RRR FM has been struck by lightening! This time it happened during the transmission of Sacrament Radio, therefore the show only went to air for approximately 40 minutes before I had to pack up and go home. Apologies for the technical problems. Hopefully Sacrament Radio will be a full two hour live show next week. Enjoy the rain! :-)

Recently I went on a holiday to Melbourne and had a fabulous time as per usual! :-) While I was there, I spent all my money at Heartland Records, and therefore will be bringing you loads of new music from artists such as: Sopor Aeternus and the Ensemble of Shadows, Lisa Gerrard, Wolfsheim, The Cruxshadows, Inkubus Sukkubus, Clan of Xymox, Faith and the Muse, Moonchild; as well as a couple of groovy compilations; and my favourite new Aussie outfit Opera Macabre! Proem3
Thursday, 22nd January 2004
Proem3 are performing live tonight at the Cat and Fiddle hotel in Balmain.
And exactly who are Proem3?? They are a female experimental alternative three piece from Lismore. Their music is described as organic, with haunting effects and thick rythmic textures. Some of the instruments they play include: drums, flute, and cello. In 2002 Proem won the National band competition and released a self titled CD, which I believe is only available from their gigs. If this sounds like your cup of (insert your favourite beverage here), then make sure you go along to the Cat and Fiddle Hotel in Balmain tonight to see Proem3! They're on-stage at 10:50pm sharp. :-)
Thunder, lightning, . . . frightening!!!
Wednesday, 21st January 2004
Where do I start?? As part of Sydney's southerly this afternoon, poor 2RRR got struck by lightening and therefore we had dead air for a few hours. Then after we were up and running again, our panel "blew up" and therefore no live shows were able to go to air, only prerecords. This means that unfortunately the three hour 'Ausmusic Special' did not go ahead, and I had to play an older version of Sacrament Radio, which was followed by Jay's old show "Underscore", and then an older Transmission with Jay and myself until 6am, when 2RRR will officially be back on air again! This means the 'Ausmusic Special' has been postponed until a later date, which is yet to be set. Apologies that Sacrament Radio was unable to be live, but I am grateful that Sydney received a small amount of the rain it desperately needs. :-)
Ausmusic Special
Thursday, 15th January 2004
Wednesday's show (21st January 2004) will be a special three hour 'Ausmusic Special', to help prepare celebrations for Australia Day. Feel free to start sending your requests of your favourite Australian songs and artists, and send them to the usual contact addresses (listed on the "main page"). This show will be the very last time that Sacrament Radio will go for three hours, so take advantage of the time, and send in as many requests as you please! :-)

Wednesday week, 24th December, will be the annual 'Krist Mass Special', so start sending in your requests for this show now. (Contact details are on the "Main page"). You can request any songs or artists with titles that remind you of this time of year. (For a hint see a list of examples below! Under "Eve" - Friday 12th December).
Duran Duran
Saturday, 13th December 2003
How awesome were Duran Duran?? I was so shocked! My reasons for going were for total cheese factor, to have a laugh and to remember being younger. Boy was I in for a shock! Duran Duran had a fantastic sound, were very tight, played pretty much all the hits (excepting 'View to a Kill'), and looked absolutely fantastic! They were extremely energetic, from the start right until the end, some two hours later. Simon Le Bon (singer) was most impressive; he hit all the high notes and had all the right moves! And how gorgeous is John?! Why is it that I always find the bass players the sexiest?? (Think of Interpol etc). If you missed out on Duran Duran, you truly missed one of the most impressive shows of all time. But if you're going to see them over the weekend supporting Robbie Williams, you're in for a real treat! :-)
Eve
Friday, 12th December 2003
On Wednesday 24th December 2003 I will be presenting my radio show live with the traditional 'Sacrament Radio Kristmas Special'. Feel free to start sending in your requests for this show. Your requests can feature any theme that you feel coincides with this time of year! For example, the songs / artists that you request may feature the words: Christ, God, Goddess, Jesus, Son of, Devil, Angel, Beltane, Heaven, Stigmata, Witch, Spirit, Preacher etc, in their title. (The list could go on and on). Have fun requesting!
Show/Voting Poll
Saturday, 6th December 2003
Next week's show will continue on with the 'Voting Poll preparation' theme, delving into just under two hours of International artists. Tune in from 10pm next Wednesday 17th December, on Sydney's 2RRR 88.5 FM. Don't forget you can now vote in this seasons 'Sacrament Radio Voting Poll' by going to the "Voting Poll" page on this site, and clicking on "Vote in this year's poll", type in your votes, as well as your full contact details, and then click on "submit". Ooodles of noodles and info!
Friday, 4th July 2003
As you know I am currently in the middle of moving house. As today was the last day of the school term, I'm now on school holidays so I am able to move the big stuff! This means as of tomorrow my computer will be disconnected. I assume I will be unable to update this web site for (hopefully only) up to 7 days while waiting for reconnection etc. I also won't be able to receive or write & send emails. I apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause. As soon as I'm back online, I will post something here!
This week's Sacrament Radio will be another prerecord, as my CD's are bound to be packed away in boxes! As you know, Gabby no longer presents 'The Cauldron' from Midnight, so I am still in control of the Midnight to 6am shift. Last week I was able to bring you eight hours of Gothic music. This week I will follow Sacrament Radio with a special prerecord episode of 'The Cauldron', followed by a prerecord Transmission. So listen out for eight hours of Gothic music, and pagan interviews and music from 10pm. I will be back to present Sacrament Radio live the following week (Wednesday 16th July). Until then I will be surrounded by boxes, no music - argh!, and gourmet food such as two minute noodles! Oh the joy . . . ;-)

Holiday
Sunday, 2nd February 2003
I had a quick holiday last week in Melbourne. If you would like to read all about it, check out the "Ramblings" page.
Last night
Saturday, 18th January 2003
Last night's Electric Ballroom started as a complete disaster - no CD players, decorations only allowed to be put up with blu-tak (yeah, like blu-tak will hold fabric up!), too much light in the front room, and not enough light in the back room . . . I could go on, but I won't. Anyway, after starting a little later than expected, Electric Ballroom turned out to be a roaring success!! Way over 100 people came along, which is great for a Friday night, especially as there were other clubs on! Thanks to everyone who came. I hope you had a great night. If you get a chance, please let me know what you think of the SHX venue, compared to '77. Thanks!
The Electric Ballroom.

I'm back / tonight's show.

Hey everyone! I'm back from my two week's holiday, fully refreshed having taken advantage of sleeping in and seeking solace with the wildlife and mother nature, in complete seclusion, YAY!
I will endeavor to update this web site as soon as possible, as well as replying to all of your emails, but please be patient as it will take me a while!
Tonight's show will be a 'New Music Special', featuring new music from Australian artists THE REDRESSER and ANTARTICA STARTS HERE, as well as the latest releases from PETER MURPHY, DEATH IN JUNE, THE FAINT, and others, plus I'll be featuring old material from DEAD CAN DANCE which hasn't received airplay on Sacrament Radio before. This web site!
Tuesday, 12th November 2002
This web site is officially three years old this week! It's hard to believe it's been going for so long, especially considering that I am not a technical person! All thanks to Starboy for helping me persist. I'm glad I did persist though, because not only is it a news source for you, but it's interesting to see what songs and artists received airplay at the end of 1999, and the songs and artists that are now being played at the end of 2002.
Tonight's show.
Wednesday, 6th November 2002
Apologies as I won't be presenting tonight's show due to severe stress. As I haven't had the time to put together a pre record for a while now, I have no idea what will be given airplay instead of Sacrament Radio. I am extremely sorry and hope that all will be "back to normal" next week. Thanks for understanding!
DARK ENTRIES
Friday, 1st November 2002
Saturday 9th November 2002 sees me DJing in Brisbane again, at the club DARK ENTRIES. (All details will be released here shortly.)
The next EB

I'll also be celebrating my birthday, along with my dear friend Matt, so make sure you come and have a drink with us!
Starting something new.
Wednesday, 16th October 2002
I've decided to attempt something new by asking the listener's to phone in during a broadcast of Sacrament Radio to give their opinions on whatever the topic may be for the night. I will have the first attempt at "talk back" tonight after 11pm and the topic for discussion (so to speak) is last Sunday night's MORRISSEY gig. If you went to the concert, or have seen MORRISSEY live before, please feel free to phone me during tonight's show to give your review. Depending on how tonight's first attempt goes will depend on whether "talk back" will happen again on Sacrament Radio, and if so, how often. I think it would be a positive idea to attempt it once a month, but we'll see!
No promises but...
Wednesday, 2nd October 2002
All year we have tried to broadcast Sacrament Radio over the Internet, but have failed due to sooo many different problems! Hopefully this all changes as of tonight... I don't promise anything, but I've just received the most positive information all year, which will see this site (attempting to) broadcast Sacrament Radio tonight! We'll see...

Ivan Dominguez
Saturday, 17th August 2002
As I mentioned before, unfortunately Ivan Dominguez, drummer of THE LAST DANCE, passed away on August 3rd 2002, whilst on tour in Europe, due to a sudden case of pneumonia, resulting from an illness yet to be determined. Ivan's family have organised a memorial fund in Ivan's memory to help provide music lessons and instruments for underprivileged children. Donations can be sent to the following address: Ivan Dominguez Memorial Fund, Valley High School C/- Band, 1801 S Greenville, Santa Ana, CA 92704, USA. (International donations please send in US funds.)
In deepest sympathy
Tuesday, 6th August 2002
I have just been informed that Ivan, drummer of THE LAST DANCE, died unexpectedly in hospital in Belgium last Saturday 3rd August. THE LAST DANCE were touring in Europe when Ivan collapsed after a show. Once admitted into hospital they discovered Ivan had pneumonia, although autopsy results are still yet to be confirmed. I was fortunate enough to meet Ivan after a LAST DANCE gig in September 2000. He was a lovely guy and an inspiring musician and will be deeply missed by many people. My heart goes out to his family and to the rest of THE LAST DANCE.... I can't even begin to imagine the shock they are going through. In memory of Ivan, this Wednesday night's Sacrament Radio will feature a tribute to Ivan of THE LAST DANCE.
80's and New Romantic music!
Sunday, 4th August 2002
On Friday night, 9th August, myself, Ash, and Simon J, will be DJ-ing a host of 80's and New Romantic music at ALTERED IMAGES - a new club which we aim to run monthly, providing there is a market for it! ALTERED IMAGES will start at 10pm, and is being held in the penthouse (top floor) of the Bristol Arms Hotel (same place as Retro - but NOT part of it!) on Sussex Street, in the city. Once you pay your $10 to get in to Retro, go up the side set of stairs, all the way to the top floor, and then dance yourself stupid to the likes of: Depeche Mode, New Order, A-ha, Duran Duran, Gary Numan, David Bowie, The Cars, Bryan Ferry, The Models, Kim Wilde, Simple Minds, and loads of other dodgy/fun music! Do your best to dress the part as well... let your imaginations (and outfits) run wild!
PILLOW gig tonight!
Friday, 2nd August 2002
NEOEZI, QUIRK THE GIMP, and PILLOW are performing live at the Bat and Ball Hotel, which is situated on the corner of Cleveland and South Dowling Streets, in Surry Hills. PILLOW are the first band onstage at approximately 8pm. Definately a gig worth checking out!

Monday, 29th July 2002
As of Thursday morning, 1st August, there is a new Pagan programme called "The Cauldron" starting on 2RRR 88.5 FM, straight after Sacrament Radio from Midnight until 1am. For the first few week's "The Cauldron" shall be pre recorded, but as of September it will be going to air live. This also means that as of August 1st, Transmission becomes a five hour programme from 1am until 6am. You can check out who's hosting each Transmission by going to the Transmission page on this web site. Enjoy the shows!

Tonight's show
Wednesday, 24th July 2002
Unfortunately I won't be doing the show live tonight, as I haven't been well for a while. (Migraine) I won't be able to broadcast either because I haven't got an antenna yet. Tonight's show will be one of my pre records, followed by Jay doing 'Underscore', and then Jay and myself will do 'Transmission' from 2am until 6am. (All pre records) Hopefully next week's show will be back live and broadcasting again!
Internet broadcast
Thursday, 18th July 2002
As you know, we've been struggling to have the Internet broadcast running each week, for more than one reason! Recently, it was due to moving house and then 2RRR technical problems, but these have been resolved! Now we are broadcasting each week, but the reception, at times, is crap! Obviously, we need to invest in a new antenna and hope to do this ASAP, so the broadcast can go ahead as per usual. Please stay patient, and hopefully I'll have positive news for you within the next couple of weeks!
An interesting gig at Club 77 on Wednesday 17th July.
Tuesday, 16th July 2002
Former members of Sydney band PUPPETSPHERE are performing under a new outfit called PILLOW at Club 77 - 77 William Street, East Sydney, on Wednesday night 17th July, doors open at 8pm. PILLOW are described as a hard band, no elctronics (like Puppetsphere) but very hard, and they play in their pyjamas! Should be quite an interesting gig!
VORTEX - this Saturday night!

Internet broadcasting
Friday, 28th June 2002
As you are well aware, Sacrament Radio has been unable to broadcast the show live for the past few months due to moving house and also due to the 2RRR antenna having technical problems. This Saturday (29th June) between 9am and 3pm, work will go ahead to fix 2RRR's antenna and as of 3pm, 2RRR will be back on-air, reaching more people/area's than before! With this exciting news comes the knowledge that as of this Wednesday (3rd July) Sacrament Radio will be broadcasting weekly. YAY! A big thank you to everyone who has been waiting so patiently to hear both 2RRR FM and Sacrament Radio via the internet broadcast.
Gigs
Thursday, 20th June 2002
There are some gigs over the next week that you might like to catch. Firstly: JEKYLL SWITCH, DEAD INSIDE THE CHRYSALIS, and HARLEQUIN, are all at Club 77 - 77 William Street, East Sydney, on Thursday 20th June from 8pm. FAKER, DAPPLED CITIES FLY, and LAISSEZ FAIRE are at the Annandale Hotel, on Parramatta Road, Annandale, from 8pm. LAISSEZ FAIRE are a new three piece that sound a little like the bands from Creation Records - MY BLODDY VALENTINE for example! EUPHONIC and DIGGLER are at the Northpoint Tavern, in North Sydney on Saturday 22nd June, from 8:30pm and all money raised goes to the Sydney Children's Hospital - YAY! And finally next week you can catch HEE HAW, PROL-TUNG and THE USEFUL BOX next Thursday, 27th June, from 8pm at Club 77. HEE HAW have been compared to the likes of THE BIRTHDAY PARTY, BAUHAUS and JOY DIVISION, so that should be an interesting gig! Enjoy the bands!
Tonight's Sacrament Radio
Wednesday, 19th June 2002
Tonight I will be seeing a couple of films at the Sydney Film Festival, those being: A Fun Night Out With Severed Heads and Donnie Darko. Because of this, I will be unable to start Sacrament Radio at the usual time of 10pm. Instead an emergency tape (which I have compiled) will be given airplay until I arrive, which will be around 11pm. From 11pm until Midnight, Sacrament Radio will go to air as normal, playing your requests. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
Voting Poll Results
Thursday, 13th June 2002
In the nine years that Sacrament Radio has been broadcasting, Voting Polls have been held seven times. The results of every year's voting poll are now on display on the "Voting Poll" page of this web site. I recently managed to find the final year's results - that being the very first poll held back in 1994 - when I moved house. It's amazing what you find when have to pack everything and shift it! When you get a chance, take a look at the results of each year... it's interesting to note the differences between each year!
ZEITGEIST to perform live this Thursday night at Club 77!
Tuesday, 11th June 2002
Sydney band ZEITGEIST will be performing live this Thursday night, 13th June at Club 77, which is situated at 77 William Street, East Stdney. ZEITGEIST will be supported by ECM and ANXIETY WHISPERS. The night starts at 8pm, and I'm assuming ZEITGEIST will start their performance at 10pm. Don't forget ZEITGEIST have a new EP release, that being "Neurotic and Latonic", which is available now through most record shops and also through their web site (www.zeitgeistaustralia.com) as well as this, a couple of the EP's will be given away on Sacrament Radio - tune in on Wednesday night for more details. Enjoy the ZEITGEIST gig on Thursday!
New page.
Friday, 7th June 2002
I've added a new page to the web site... that being Transmission. The Transmission page is to let you know what's happening on the show in advance. Hope you enjoy it!
Oops!
Wednesday, 5th June 2002
Apologies, but I won't be presenting Sarament Radio live tonight, due to a respiratory tract infection, which is making me feel like shit! This also means that the long awaited broadcast, will be an even longer wait.... sorry again! Instead; 10pm until Midnight will be a pre record of Sacrament Radio. Jay's 'Underscore' pre record will take place in the Midnight till 2am slot, and then Jay and my pre record of 'Transmission' will take place between 2am and 6am. Enjoy the shows!
Internet Broadcast.
Sunday, 2nd June 2002
As you are well aware, Sacrament Radio has not broadcast over the Internet due to the problems of moving house. As this has now all been fixed, as of this Wednesday night (5th June) Sacrament Radio will broadcast weekly from 10pm until Midnight (Sydney time). Apologies for the delay. Enjoy the broadcast!
VORTEX this Saturday night!
Tuesday, 28th May 2002
The alternative beats nightclub VORTEX is on this Saturday night 1st June, from 10pm until 5am at a new venue - the City Hotel, situated on the corner of King and Kent Streets in the city. VORTEX will feature two dancefloors - the hard floor (Electro / Industrial / Dark Techno) and the Dark floor (Gothic / 80's / Alternative). I will be DJing on the Dark floor at around Midnight and 3am. I will also take along a few copies of various IKON CD's should anyone want to purchase them. ($20) Looking forward to seeing you all (well, at least those of you in Sydney!) at VORTEX this Saturday night from 10pm.
IKON
Sunday, 19th May 2002
How lucky we Sydney people were to see IKON perform live last Thursday night at Club 77. It was such an awesome night, with an absolutely brilliant performance from IKON. I hope that IKON will venture up to Sydney again soon! For those people at the gig who didn't happen to purchase themselves a copy of the latest three IKON singles, albums, and the joint single vinyl release with THE REDRESSER, and THE REDRESSER album.... I have copies of each of these for sale, just email me for more details. (info@sacramentradio.org) Thanks to IKON for inspiring me to go see more live bands!
IKON live performance this Thursday night @ Club 77 from 8pm!
Monday, 13th May 2002
Well, the week has finally arrived! The week where Sydney finally gets to see a live performance from Australia's biggest Gothic export - Melbourne band IKON. This Thursday night from 8pm the doors will open at Club 77 - 77 William Street, East Sydney, for three performances from three different bands. The first artist onstage at 8pm is JOSHUA. IKON are second onstage and therefore I'm assuming they will start at 9pm, so be aware that you'll want to be at '77 by 9PM! WORLD INC. are the headlining band, and therefore I'm assuming they will start sometime just after 10pm, as all bands are meant to be finished by 11pm. So, prepare yourself for a huge night this Thursday as IKON take to the stage for the first time in Sydney in approxiamately six years. I can't fucking wait!!
Show and house move.
Wednesday, 8th May 2002
We have finally finished moving all our shite to our new house. I hate moving and hope I don't have to do it again for another three years! Due to the house move, I was unable to present Sacrament live last week... apologies. I will be presenting the show live tonight, but unfortunately am unable to broadcast, as not everything is set up in our new house yet. I am also unable to present the 'Live Music Special' as scheduled. This show will go to air May 22nd. As I don't have access to all my CD's yet, tonight's show will continue on with the 'New Music Special' theme, where I will play tracks from the new albums of SHINJUKU THIEF, IKON, TYCHO BRAHE, ZEITGEIST, RESURRECTION EVE, WINTERLAND, and various compilations. Enjoy the show and hopefully by next week the show and web site will be up to date!
On the move!
Tuesday, 23rd April 2002
I have just spent the past weekend packing and attempting to move house. After more than three years living in Annandale, it's time to move on! As Starboy and I will be spending the next two weeks moving house, this web site will be slightly behind and broadcasting Sacrament live might prove problematic. Please be patient, as I'm sure the radio show and web site will be "back to normal" in the next few weeks!
REQUIEM this Thursday, 18th April @ Club '77 !
Monday, 15th April 2002

There will be loads of CD giveaway's of each of these releases! For more information about this Thursday nights REQUIEM check out the groovy ad on the "Requiem" page. As this will be the last REQUIEM until the end of the year, I hope to see you all there, showing your support! Thanks.
IKON to rock Sydney!
Wednesday, 10th April 2002
Melbourne band IKON will be playing one gig in Sydney, on Thursday 16th of May, at Club 77, as part of the "Children of the Damned" nightclub. IKON will be supported by Electro/Dark Rocker's WORLD INC. As part of their trip to Sydney, IKON will be guests on Sacrament Radio on Wednesday, 15th of May. I can't wait!!
Voting Poll Results.
Sunday, 7th April 2002
The results for the latest Sacrament Voting Poll (2001) are displayed on the "Voting Poll" page. And, (with a huge THANK YOU to the wonderful Aislinn), the results are also displayed for the previous years 1995 and 1996. There is now only one year left to be displayed, that being 1994 - the very first year the Voting Poll was held on Sacrament Radio. If anyone happens to have these results, could you please send me a copy so I can complete the Voting Poll section? Thank you. Otherwise, hopefully I will come across the results myself in some mysterious place!
Thanks to everyone who took part in voting in the most recent Voting Poll. The results will be sent to you within the next two weeks!
IKON
Tuesday, 2nd April 2002
I'm currently talking with Melbourne band IKON, hoping to get them up to Sydney to perform live soon. Their new single 'Afterlife' is just brilliant, and I look forward to giving it airplay on Sacrament Radio shortly. I'm also looking forward to hearing their new album. IKON recently got back from an extensive European tour, and I was fortunate enough to catch their only Melbourne gig last month. Let's hope they will come up to Sydney shortly. As soon as I know something definate, I will update this web site and also mention it on Sacrament Radio.
Apologies...
Friday, 15th March 2002
Apologies that last Wednesday 13th March 2002 edition of Sacrament wasn't the 'Voting Poll Countdown' like expected. Unfortunately I have had "the week from hell" and wasn't able to add up the votes in time. Also, I was too stressed to present a live radio show, and the show was also unable to broadcast. For these three reasons I feel it is much more important to delay the 'Voting Poll Countdown' until next week - Wednesday 20th March 2002. You will be able to tune in from 10pm to hear the countdown on 2RRR 88.5 FM, and through the Internet via this web site, on the Internet broadcast page. Apologies for the delay.
Voting Poll Results
Tuesday, 12th March 2002
The results from this seasons Sacrament Voting Poll will receive radio airplay this Wednesday night, 13th March 2002, from 10pm until Midnight on 2RRR 88.5 FM, and through the Internet via this web site. From 10pm you will hear the ten most popular Australasian songs, and from 11pm the ten most popular International songs. I will also inform you of the most popular Australasian and International bands and artists. What is the most popular Australasian song??? Tune in this Wednesday night from 10pm to find out!
Sacrament's 9th Birthday!
Tuesday, 5th March 2002
This week's edition of Sacrament is the 9th Birthday! It's hard to believe I have been writing, producing, and presenting a Gothic music and information radio show, weekly, for nine years! Tune in to the radio or the broadcast this Wednesday night from 10pm until Midnight to hear the 'Sacrament Radio 9th Birthday Special'.
Sad news.
Monday, 11th February 2002
Yesterday at 4am my Nana passed away in her sleep. My Nan had been battling cancer and other chronic diseases for five years. She was a tough cookie, who defied the odds so many times, and her death yesterday was/is quite a shock. I was very close to my Nan, even though she lived in Coffs Harbour. I enjoyed visiting her a couple of times every year, and phoning her each week. I already miss her dearly, but take comfort in the fact that she can finally rest painlessly. As her death has left me feeling empty and scattered, I am unsure as to whether I can present Sacrament live this Wednesday night. If I am not up to it, I will find a suitable replacement. Later this week I will travel to Coffs Harbour for her funeral. I am hoping this will let me deal with what has happened and get back to my weekly routine... we'll see.
Good bye my dearest Nan. I love you dearly and you will always remain an inspiration to me.
Last week's show.
Wednesday, 30th January 2002
As you may well have noticed, I haven't written the list of songs and artists that received airplay on Sacrament last week - Wednesday 23rd January. Last Wednesday night I went along to see NEW ORDER perform at the Horden Pavilion and therefore had prepared a pre record to be given airplay while I was out enjoying myself! As far as I'm aware, the tape was given airplay so the show went to air just fine. I have been to 2RRR since last week and unfortunately connot find the tape - it's gone missing! Therefore my typed list, which sits with the video, has also gone missing and as I don't have a brilliant memory cannot write up last weeks show on the "This Week" page. All I can hope for is that the video and track listing page will magically reappear to me sometime soon, so I am able to inform you what ws given airplay. Apologies for any inconvenience, I can only hope to rectify this problem as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience!
REQUIEM
Monday, 14th January 2002
The next REQUIEM is being held on Thursday 31st January from 10pm until 4am at Club 77 - 77 William Street, East Sydney. DJ's include: myself, Kasdaye, and a special mystery guest! Photo ID, Dark Attire and $7 are required to enter. Requests can be emailed to: requiem@sacramentradio.org Looking forward to seeing you there!
Thank You!
Wednesday, 26th December 2001
Thanks to everyone that came down to the ELECTRIC BALLROOM 'Orphans Party - Christmas Eve-l Feast'. It was a wonderful night, with a guess of some 200 people visiting throughout the night. At this stage I'm not sure when the next ELECTRIC BALLROOM will be, hopefully soon though. I do know that REQUIEM will be happening on Thrusday, 31st January 2002 at Club '77. Hope to see you all there!
CHRISTMAS EVE-L FEAST!
Tuesday, 18th December 2001
Ashley and myself are putting on another ELECTRIC BALLROOM 'Christmas Eve-l Feast', this coming X-Mas Eve. It will be held at Club '77 from 9pm, and we will be joined by various guest DJs! For more information check out the 'Electric Ballroom' page on this web site, and tune into Sacrament Radio this Wednesday night from 10pm!
Sacrament Voting Poll is open!
Friday, 7th December 2001
This season's Sacrament Voting Poll is now open! From the beginning of December 2001 until the end of February 2002 you are able to vote for your favourite Australsian and International Gothic songs and artists. Once the voting has closed I will add up all the votes and place them in their order of poularity. In March 2002 Sacrament will count down the ten most popular Australasian songs, followed by the ten most popular international songs, as well as informing you of the most popular Australasian and international artists. You must place your name and address details for your vote to be counted. This is to stop the unfairness of individuals voting multiple times. At the moment you are only available to vote through the web site. Hopefully by the new year you will be able to vote on a form that you can pick up through various shops and through the radio station. I am also able to send you a form directly... just let me know!
You can go along to the Voting Poll page to check out more information and to submit your votes.
Happy voting!
WORLD INC. radio appearance and single launch.
Thursday, 29th November 2001
Last night WORLD INC. were supposed to appear live on Sacrament but unfortunately had to "pull out" due to unforseen circumstances late Tuesday. As they were unable to be interviewed and as I have had an extremely stressful week, I decided to play the pre recorded tape of the 'Sacrament Australasian Special part II' and head on down to the Basement to listen to THE CHURCH do an accoustic set. (Great therapy!:-)
WORLD INC. will definately appear on Sacrament Radio live one day, to answer all your questions and to play new music. In the meantime, don't foget you can catch them live this Friday night - 30th November, to launch their new single "Love Like Blood", at the Excelsior Hotel in Surry Hills at 10pm, with other bands REFLEX and ELECTROPLEX on before WORLD INC. See you there!

As of last week, the Sacrament web site has been on the Internet for two years! Even though the time seems to have gone so quickly, the web site continues to grow consistently, as do the number of people who visit this site. There are many more things I wish to ad to this web site. I hope this can be done over the next two years!
WORLD INC.
Thursday, 15th November 2001
Apologies that I was unable to present Sacrament live last night, therefore the interview with WORLD INC. did not go ahead. I knew that both Novemeber and December were going to be tough months for me, due to my workload, but I didn't realise it would affect me so soon! Unfortunately I was too exhausted to present Sacrament live last night. WORLD INC. have been extremely gracious about this, and will still come along to Sacrament live one week to programme the show and to talk about their music, influences, web site, gigs etc. Hopefully this will occur either on Wednesday 21st or 28th November. Don't forget that WORLD INC. are performing live this Saturday night 17th November, at the Hopetoun Hotel on Bourke Street in Surry Hills. I'll see you there, I can't wait!!
Off the net!
Monday, 12th November 2001
Apologies that I have been unable to update the web site and reply to loads of emails. I didn't have Internet access for two weeks. As I now have Internet access again, I will slowly update the web site and very slowly reply to emails. Thanks for your patience!
REQUIEM
Monday, 15th October 2001
A big thank you to everyone that came along to last week's REQUIEM. (Mon 8th Oct) It was great to be back in the atmospheric Club 77. It was a wonderful night with a great turn out for a Monday. Thanks also to everyone who has passed on their positive feedback about the night. I agree, it was fantastically decorated! :-) As I write, there are no definite plans for another REQUIEM. Let's just hope that I can organise another one before the year is over! Thanks again to those who showed their support at last week's REQUIEM.
